Chris is a Quaker, who has spent her career as an academic at the University of Bristol and working as a volunteer in the community on a range of community empowerment activities, most recently setting up the award winning Armadillo Youth Venue and Cafe with cinema and performance space. From her earliest memories she was a devotee of William Morris’ approach.
Her work focuses upon conservation law. She currently leads the work of the University on education for sustainability and has worked with Universities all over Europe on sustainability projects. A key feature of the work is building bridges to encourage and enable students to engage in the work of making Bristol a more inclusive sustainable city.
She is a former governor of Bristol Old Vic, and has been a trustee of several organisations.
Her particular interests related to the Trust are in the use of art and design as ways to engage people in sustainability thinking and enabling young people to engage with art and design as applied to real things in their lives.
