June Lancaster, who died in 2009, was a key member of the Gane Trustees and our authority on social issues. She was born on June 11th 1928, and eventually took employment in the child care services in Northamptonshire and the City of Worcester. Following the 1959 Mental Health Act, she moved to Bristol to take a teaching course where she spent the rest of her life. This led to teaching in special schools until 1986, and she finished her teaching career as Deputy Head.
June became Personnel Director of the Bristol Guild the following year and became a familiar presence there, part of the family atmosphere so particular to the Guild.
Quiet and unassuming, she was an active Trustee of the Gane Trust right up to her death on October 5th 2009, and a wise adviser on many issues whose thoughtful contributions will be much missed.
