In association with Bath School of Art and Design at Bath Spa University, The Gane Trust offers a Study Travel Scholarship for £1,000 to a Second Year Student. The criteria governing the Scholarship are:
Purpose: to travel abroad to study an approved aspect of design, designercraftsmanship or a related craft.
Field of study: no restriction, but preference given to furniture design, textiles, typography, sculpture*.
Conditions: a report of no more than 3000 words to be submitted to the Head of School for onward transmission to the Trustees not later than 2 months after return. The report should be detailed and evaluate the educational benefit.
Selection: by the Head of School in consultation with staff.
Application: by submitting a proposal (including aims and a programme for the project) – to the Senior Administrator.
Payment: £800 upon commencement and the balance of £200 will be paid when the Trustees have either received a written report or been given a presention by the award-holder. If the award-holder is unable to complete the project in part or in whole for sound reasons, a refund of the award will be required by the Trust as agreed to be reasonable.
